The AIPG eNews often links to geology articles hosted by other organizations or newsgroups. Because these links are hosted on other sites, AIPG is not responsible for the advertising content on those sites. AIPG welcomes and supports all geologists and all people who are interested in geology and will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. However, AIPG is not a political organization and does not support any candidates, political parties, or political action groups. AIPG’s activities in the political realm are limited to those legislative actions that directly impact the professional practice of geology. As such, AIPG takes no position with respect to the efforts of groups seeking to influence policy in other areas of concern in our current public and political discourse.
The Professional Geologist (TPG) is published quarterly by the American Institute of Professional Geologists and provides a forum for discussion and dissemination of professional and scientific information. TPG publishes peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed technical articles in all areas of geology. TPG is distributed to over 15,000 in the geosciences including members, non-members, businesses, libraries, universities/colleges, and government agencies. TPG's are available in pdf format free online.
Geological Ethics and Professional Practices 1987-current
The central focus of this information is, of course, on ethics as a part of geologic professionalism. AIPG has been at the forefront of promoting a concern with professional ethics and of setting ethical standards for its members and for the geologic profession as a whole. Without a high and rigorously enforced code of ethics, the public, whom we try to serve, will have no faith in our technical competence. There are not always easy answers to making ethical decisions. This free download provides a thoughtful compendium, not only of the Institute's current positions on ethics but also provides an informed discussion of various viewpoints on the application of ethical principles to real life situations.
